Nepal to participate in Beijing 15 women's meeting

KATHMANDU, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nepal is going to participate in the 15th anniversary of the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, also known as Beijing 15, The Rising Nepal reported on Sunday.

According to the state-run daily, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will organize the world conference at the UN headquarters in New York on March 1-12.

The first conference on women was held in Beijing, China, in September 1995. The Beijing conference on women had created pressures on Nepal to work steadily regarding to the women issues.

This year's meeting aims to undertake a 15-year review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action.

The CSW meeting which takes place every year will now focus replica clothing on the efforts made, achievement, obstacles, and strategies of implementation of the action.

Various representatives from the government and non government organizations of Nepal will attend the CSW meeting.

At a program held by National Network for Beijing Review Nepal, it was revealed that some positive and notable progress was achieved in Nepal towards women within 15 years.

Nepal will raise the issues of women's trafficking and issues regarding women's access in health service, problems of climate change and impact of armed conflict on the Nepali women, education of women and issue of women and environment in the meeting.
